Nora Roberts - Single Books

Montana Sky: Three sisters who don't get along and have nothing in common reunite when their father passes away and leaves them the family ranch in Montana. Romance, murder and laughter ... Roberts balances the tension with three romances, crackling dialogue and a snappy infusion of humor.

My Thoughts: This is an amazing story! It has all the ingredients that make a great story for me: intrigue, romance, sexual tension, laughter and tears.

Assisting her is beautiful lawyer Lana Campbell, a young widow with a fascinating attraction to Callie's brother. Two torrid romances and one heart-stopping suspense story make this an exciting book from its poignant opening to its final shocking discovery.

My Thoughts: This book proves yet again why I love her writing so much. The main character's feisty demeanor and stubborn pride makes her lovable as well as real. Nora did a great job of intertwining archeaology with drama, murder, romance and sex. Because baby stealing is something very real, it made the story all the more emotional. I highly recommend it.

Nora Roberts - Trilogies & Series

Three Sisters Island Trilogy: Dance Upon the Air/Heaven & Earth/Face the Fire: The story of three modern day witches who are decendants of three witches who died in Salem in the 1600's. Nell, the quiet, easygoing woman on the run from her abusive husband prays that he won't find her on this small Massachusetts island. Ripley, the stubborn yet sensitive island deputy who refuses to acknowledge her special gift, and Mia, the strong, no-nonsense bookstore owner who's broken heart has never healed.

My Thoughts: Normally I wouldn't read stories about witches. But an ex co-worker assured me that this story takes place today and that I would love it. So I ordered Dance Upon the Air and fell in love with this small island and it's trio of local witches. I especially like Ripley who reminds me a bit of myself.

The Born In Trilogy: In Born in Fire, Roberts tells the story of a girl from an Irish village who gains international acclaim as a glass sculptress. Margaret Mary Concannon is sent to Venice by her doting father, Tom, to study glassblowing, even though every penny he spends on his beloved daughter is begrudged by her churlish mother. Tom's untimely death and his wife's ongoing bitterness prohibit Maggie from reaching success in either art or marriage until the wealthy manager of an art gallery helps her to attain international acclaim and wealth; he also falls in love with her and plans to change her commitment to her art alone. Roberts' tale of passion in the Irish art world is a beguiling one.
Born in Ice: Brianna Concannon is a woman with a rare gift for creating a home, and she makes use of this talent by running a bed-and-breakfast in a picturesque corner of Ireland. Mystery writer Grayson Thane is an American who grew up in an orphanage and has spent his life alone. A restless wanderer with a painful past, Grayson arrives at Blackthorn Cottage intent only on soaking up the Irish atmosphere and writing his next novel, but he finds far more than he bargained for. The beautiful, calm Brianna soothes his disquiet soul, and in her Grayson finds the home he hadn't realized he needed. Brianna knows that by falling for him, she risks her heart, already bruised and scarred by a young love who left her at the altar. But the yearning to let the American melt the ice around her cold exterior is irresistible. Unless Grayson can let go of his past to forge a future with her, Brianna may have gambled her heart in vain.
Born in Shame: This third and final novel in Roberts's Irish trilogy is the story of Shannon Bodine. Shannon's life is rocked by an emotional earthquake when she learns the identity of her real father. Obeying her late mother's last wish, American Shannon travels to County Clare, Ireland, to meet the sisters she never knew she had. Warmed and comforted by the bond that grows between her and her sisters, her heart is lured by the charm of the Irish countryside and tempted by the attraction of horseman Murphy Muldoon. Murphy takes one look at Shannon and knows that she is the woman he's waited for all his life. But Shannon is a practical woman. Will she open her heart and mind to the timeless, magical bond that connects them? Or will she reject fate's plan and leave Murphy to return to her life in America?

My Thoughts: This trilogy was just AMAZING! It makes me want to go visit Ireland.

The Irish Trilogy: Jewel of the Sun/Tears of the Moon/Heart of the Sea
In order to break a centuries-old spell that keeps him from his true love, Carrick, Prince of Faeries, must help pub-owners Aidan, Darcy and Shawn Gallagher fall in love. In Jewels of the Sun, the first step of Carrick's plan was completed when Aidan married Jude Murray. Now Carrick has turned to Shawn, a handsome daydreamer who spends his days composing music in his head while cooking for the pub. The faerie prince hopes to match Shawn with Brenna O'Toole, a fiery-haired carpenter with a longtime secret crush on Shawn. The problem is that Shawn is perfectly happy as a single man; he informs Carrick that he will have nothing to do with his plan. But, as anyone familiar with Irish lore will tell you, mere mortals don't stand a chance against the whims of the faeries. Robert skillfully draws out Shawn and Brenna's courtship and spices the tale with descriptions of Darcy's many flirtations and an entertaining subplot concerning an expansion of the pub.

My Thoughts: I loved this book because it's set in Ireland and it's a place I really want to visit. The book talked a lot about Irish myths and legends and about the people in the country. The story itself was very good. Aidan the handsome older borther who'd traveled the world, Shawn the loner with music in his soul and Darcy the flirtatious and fiesty sister who wants to see the world. I enjoyed the way Nora Roberts used myths in the romance. Ireland is so full of legends that it's hard to not get swept up in them.

The Quinn Brothers Trilogy: Sea Swept/Rising Tides/Inner Harbor
Set in Baltimore's beautiful Inner Harbor area, the stories captivated me with details of shipbuilding and sailing. Three men, rescued and adopted as boys, must come together again to solve the mystery surrounding their adoptive father's death. Along the way, the men are challenged by three women. Our heroines include: a longsuffering single mother, a fiery social worker, and a seemingly cold writer. Of course, all the characters have issues from the past to resolve. Additionally, they also have the best interests of a young boy to keep in mind -- a new adoptee or new brother? From breaking and entering to sailing and swimming, the stories meld one into another. Kisses, picnics, and fast cars sweep you along from book to book, until the mystery is finally revealed and the love complications are resolved. Ultimately, the romance novel reveals the unspoken thoughts of men and women, with characters so real that you feel you've met them somewhere. If men read romance novels more, they would know what women want. And, ladies, this is a trilogy you can get your man to read!
The Sequel to the Trilogy: Chesapeake Blue: After a five-year absence, Seth Quinn has returned home from Europe a world-renowned artist. He's ready to settle down in the same picturesque town on the Bay where the three step-brothers who raised him now live. Soon, Seth meets beautiful, independent Druscilla "Dru" Whitcomb Banks and falls in love with her almost immediately. Life takes on an idyllic glow until someone from his past begins blackmailing him again. Roberts, a best-selling author and the recipient of countless honors, including numerous RITAs as well as the Romance Writers of America Lifetime Achievement Award, has once again crafted a poignant and often humorous tale. True to style, she has also thrown in just enough of the paranormal to tantalize. Guaranteed to please the many fans who were waiting for Seth's story, this sequel to the original trilogy is a must-have.

Margo, the housekeeper's daughter, takes her dreams far away only to come back home broken and defeated. Laura seemed to have it all until fate took away the man she loved and she is left alone to raise her children. Kate may not possses Margo's beauty or Laura's elegance, but she possesses something they will never have - a shrewd head for business. But now she faces personal impropriety as a ghost from her past threatens everything she's ever worked for.

My Thoughts: These three books were a birthday present from Jeanine last year and she was right, I loved them!
