I think I'm turning Japanese, I really think so. So we're over in beautiful Tokyo doing promo. And I just woke up and ordered some breakfast. Not the typical breakfast that we're used to in the States. It's awesome. Japanese breakfast. Grilled salmon, rice, Miso soup. They got these crazy little scrambled eggs that look like sushi. Guess you have to be here to understand. Anyways, I love it over here. The sushi. The people are soooo cool. The style is too. But I'm looking forward to going to NY to release the album. I sure hope some peeps will come out to see us. Anyways, I'm sooooo freakin' excited to get this promo done so that we can start preparing for the world tour. It's gonna be amazing. All I can say is, it's gonna blow away the Never Gone tour. I just turned on CNN. And I'm soo shocked and saddened. I wanna send some love, support and prayers to all the people on the West Coast that have been affected from this tragedy. You are def in our hearts. Anyways, I gotta run. I got press to do. Love ya.
Subject: Nick Carter is no longer a Bad Boy
Source: starpulse.com

Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter is confident he has learned from his past mistakes - and is keen to rid himself of his bad boy image. The singer hit the headlines after being charged with two counts of DUI in California in 2005 and was ordered to complete a rehabilitation program. But the 27-year-old insists he is a changed man after his brushes with the law. He says, "I've never tried to be a bad boy - it's just something that happened. I got caught in situations like everyone does in their life. Either you learn from these things - or you're an idiot. Bad shit happens. But if you've been watching me closely, I'm not being bad anymore."

The Backstreet Boy has emphatically denied recent press reports that he is dating Britney Spears. Speaking with Marc Malkin of Planet Gossip Nick said, "I don't even know Britney, and at this time, with all that is going on in her life, I certainly wouldn't want to get involved."
"The last thing I need in my life is more drama, but I do wish her the very best outcome with everything," he added. As if anyone actually believed that rumor. - Maria

A pileup of celebrity advocates in town yesterday presented some hard choices. Did we want to hear a dignified and beloved two-time Oscar winner describe her struggles with osteoporosis? Or watch a scruffy boy-bander known for rehab, family squabbles and starlet girlfriends try to save the dolphins? Sorry, Sally Field. You couldn't have known Nick Carter would come to D.C. the same day. The lead singer of the hot-in-'99 Backstreet Boys was officially appointed a "special ambassador of the Year of the Dolphin" yesterday by the United Nations Environment Program Convention on Migratory Species. The 27-year-old Carter showed up at the National Press Club in a black suit and blue patterned tie, his blond bangs brushed down on his forehead. Why Carter? He explained that he grew up in Florida and "from a very young age enjoyed the ocean and all its wonderful creatures. . . . It saddens me deeply to learn that something that gives me such pleasure is in danger." Then he read off a bunch of stats about dolphins, dying by the hundreds of thousands lately through hunting, pollution, habitat loss and climate change. Would we like a moment to talk to Carter one-on-one? Oh, yeah. Why dolphins, Nick? "I've been a scuba diver since I was little and saw dolphins all the time. . . . You know, it's like living with a pet almost, but one that you can't necessarily touch. But that's fine, you know, because they're around you and you see how happy they are." More advocacy work on his horizon? "Yeah, but one thing at a time. I'm going to deal with the dolphins first." Okay, gotta ask: Any thoughts on ex-love Paris Hilton's jail sentence? No. "I, uh, want to leave that negativity and that lifestyle behind and pursue things that actually mean something, you know?" And since you ask: New Backstreet Boys album on the way this summer.

Former Backstreet Boy and Paris Hilton ex, Nick Carter, is taking a break from clubbing to do some good for the world. Nick has gone all "Save the Dolphins" on us and has become a United Nations Special Ambassador, representing the United Nations Environment Programme, the Convention on Migratory Species, and the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society for their "Year of the Dolphin" campaign. He says he has been inspired by the do-gooding of some fellow celebs. "People like Bono, Angelina Jolie, and Nicole Kidman have inspired me to put my celebrity to good use. I have the advantage of reaching multiple generations to make a difference.” And though that sounds like a very scripted statement, Nick assures Us Weekly that this is serious stuff. “I am really excited, but also a little nervous about this much responsibility...it is an actual job. There are responsibilities and commitments that I must make to be the voice of dolphins, whales and conservation issues, and the expectations are quite large." Well, we can't fault him for his efforts, no matter what his real agenda is. But I do have a feeling that fading-star Nick is keeping a list in his frosted-tipped head of how this will help raise Hollhywood's awareness of him.

In recognition of his commitment to the conservation of oceans and marine life, and as a future messenger for dolphin conservation, Nick Carter was appointed today as Special Ambassador of the Year of the Dolphin by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Convention on Migratory Species (CMS). Through his Ocean Campaign, Nick Carter has already been encouraging young people to learn about environmental issues affecting oceans and become active in environmental work. In his new role, Nick will further his commitment and partner with the UNEP Convention to raise public awareness and action to protect dolphins and their habitats. “Everyone loves dolphins. Yet, we are still driving them to extinction. They face numerous threats such as being caught in fishing nets, disoriented by noise of boats and sonars and poisoned by more and more waste in the oceans. Global warming is threatening for most dolphins as well.” said Carter. “I want to work with the UNEP Convention on Migratory Species and the partners of the Year of the Dolphin to inform and fundraise for dolphin conservation, to save these animals and their habitats.” Nick will actively assist with the educational campaign and fundraising. For instance, he will work on a special song and video for dolphins, and funds raised through the sale of the song will be used for CMS projects on dolphin conservation He will also develop a public service announcement, to engage his fans and the public at large in conservation of dolphins and ocean environments. Specifics of his campaign will be revealed next month including a website, contest to have Nick Carter appear at local schools, as well as information on ways to contribute to UNEP/CMS and educational information to save dolphins. “I trust that many young people will be inspired by Nick to take positive action on behalf of dolphins and oceans, and contribute to safeguarding their heritage and environment. I thank and commend Nick for his support, and I hope this will be the start of a long lasting friendship with the Convention on Migratory Species” said Mr. Hepworth, Executive Secretary of CMS. CMS, the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society (WDCS) and other Year of the Dolphin partners are working hard to raise awareness and prepare the conservationists of the future. Mr. Hepworth presented a booklet, entitled “All About Dolphins”, and which is being distributed through UNESCO schools and TUI - the largest European tourism agency – destinations. “I am honored to offer my resources and my music to help the United Nations save dolphins and their habitats,” explained the singer. Nick Carter will explain his engagement with the work of the Convention on Migratory Species for the protection of cetaceans. UNEP, CMS and WDCS will discuss the current alarming threats to dolphin conservation and promote the International Year of the Dolphin -- a public awareness campaign currently gathering supporters from around the world. Date: Thursday, 17 May 2007. Time: 12:00 - 13:00 hrs. Venue: National Press Club, Ballroom, Washington D.C.

In what very quickly became a huge day for Hollywood with WWE in town, celebrities flooded the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles for the RAW/SmackDown Supershow. From the Carter family to the cast of Jackass to the notorious Kevin Federline, the stars came out today in L.A. Amongst a myriad of television and music's hottest celebrities including DJ Paul and Juicy J of Three 6 Mafia, Motorhead, Antonio Sabato, Jr., Powerman 5000, Shadows Fall, CW Network star Enrico Colatoni and more, Kevin "K-Fed" Federline described his experience as "a little bit crazy." Flanked by his siblings, star of House of Carters Nick Carter, said that his day with WWE was "a dream come true." "My family grew up on WWE," claimed Carter. "[Today is] incredible and it's been kind of surreal. This is one of the things [my family and I] were always big fans of. There's not a lot out there that's very creative; this is so creative, and still to this day, very entertaining. I love it." A fan of old school WWE Superstars like the Undertaker, Nick Carter was also heavily captivated by the Sexiest Women on Television. "Ah, the Divas," mused Carter, "I want to meet them all…I want them to body slam me." Nick's brother, Aaron was also on hand and was in awe of the massive WWE Superstars at his and his brother's first-ever WWE event. "I've been a big fan of WWE my whole life," said the youngest Carter brother. "I've basically grown up with all these [Superstars] I'm walking around seeing. Being on a stage that's not mine, it's a cool feeling; I get that anxiety back." Moments before speaking to WWE.com, Aaron was hoisted over seven feet in the air by the immense ECW World Champion Big Show. "Big show is crazy," Aaron added. "He picked me up like a hammer. He definitely was after my bling so I gave him some to rock. This has definitely a cool experience unlike any other."

American pop artists Nick and Aaron Carter are heading to Australia and the wild brothers have a warning for parents."Lock up your daughters," said 26-year-old Backstreet Boys star Nick. "We are coming Down Under!" The pair arrive in Sydney on November 3 and will spend one week in Australia promoting their new reality series, House of Carters. They will also make a splash at Melbourne's spring racing carnival, running amok on Derby day and Melbourne Cup day. The Carter clan are following the lead of A-list celebrities Jessica Simpson, Britney Spears and the Osbourne family by filming a warts-and-all reality program based on their everyday lives. House Of Carters centres on the real life drama of Nick, 18-year-old Aaron, plus their three sisters Bobbie Jean, Leslie and Angel, Aaron's twin. It also explores the issue of neglect the three girls faced while their parents managed and toured the world with their brothers. The siblings all move in together to try to put their dysfunctional family life behind them and support each other as they pursue their professional and personal dreams.
The series premieres on pay-TV's E! Entertainment Television on November 4. Nick, who toured Australia with the Backstreet Boys in January, said the brothers were looking to find love. "Australian girls are known to be the most beautiful in the world," Nick said. "Just look at Elle Macpherson! We can't wait to get down there."

It's a family first as Backstreet Boy Nick Carter brings together his younger brother, mega pop star Aaron, and their three sisters to live in one house and try to put a turbulent family history behind them. The Carter kids have been living disparate and disjointed lives, and Nick feels it's his job as the oldest of the five siblings to step up to the plate and bring them back together - with just the right combination of motivation, firm direction and brotherly love. Supporting each other as they pursue professional and personal dreams, the brothers and sisters are hoping to rediscover the strength of family as they launch their own lives in the new series "House of Carters," premieres Monday, October 2nd, 2006 at 9/8c only on E! Like fame, controversy has followed the Carters. Having their parents as managers led to a lot of turmoil in the Carter family and relationships within the family were severely strained. Aaron's widely publicized petition for legal emancipation from his mother made tabloid headlines, as did Robert and Jane Carter's divorce in 2004. Ready to put the past behind him, Nick is at a turning point in his life. He remains busy with the Backstreet Boys, but Nick is also considering what lies beyond the boy band while simultaneously maintaining a successful solo career. Now Nick is assuming possibly his biggest responsibility ever by taking the helm of his family to assist his brother and sisters with their own careers and life aspirations. At the same time, Aaron has big decisions to make as well. He has achieved his own celebrity, with numerous gold and platinum albums under his belt, and has been a popular staple of gossip columnists and celebrity magazines since his hit career began. However, he knows his image will have to change if he is to make the successful leap from teen sensation to adult recording star. Nick and Aaron's sisters, Leslie, Angel and Bobbie Jean, have distinct and often outrageous personalities, individual career ambitions and an assortment of challenges to face. Like her brothers, Leslie is a singer, and has been living in Toronto with her boyfriend, the drummer for her band. When Leslie leaves Canada to move in with her brothers and sisters, it will be the first time she has seen some of them in years. Angel is Aaron's twin sister and best friend who has, most recently, been living in Florida. Not to be overshadowed by her twin, Angel is starting a modeling career and has big plans for herself when she moves to the west coast. Bobbie Jean is the oldest Carter sister. She does not know what she wants from life, but knows that show biz is not for her. A culinary career has grabbed her interest lately and, while she might find a great school to attend, getting to classes will be a whole different story. Kenneth Crear and Johnny Wright of Wright Crear Management, J.T. Taylor (Executive Producer/"The Osbournes"/MTV) and Rob Lee (Executive Producer/"Blow Out"/Bravo) are executive producers of the series.

The rule of thumb with reality TV is that all B-level stars -- or lower -- get shows. At least, that certainly seems to be the case with former Backstreet Boy Nick Carter, who will be living with his popular little brother Aaron and their three younger sisters (Bobbie Jean, Leslie and Angel) for the new E! Entertainment series "House of Carters." The show will kick off with a special hour-long episode 9 p.m. Oct. 2 on E!, followed by half-hour episodes in the weeks following, throughout October and November.

Angel answered these questions exclusively for the House of Carters MySpace.
1. Are you filming yet or you already finish?
We are still filming at the moment.
2. Can you explain each one of you in a word, according to what you are living in the house? Like, the bossiest, the sweetest.
BJ and I are the bestest of friends. She's bossy though! Leslie I'm still getting to know her again, but we've become very close. She helps out with my love life a lot! Nick is awesome. We get along probably the best and Aaron is my other half!
3. Some Alex M. fans and The Carters fans are asking, Nick and Alex are dating? She will make an appearence on the show as his girlfriend or your friend?
Nick and Alex are NOT dating and they never did date before. They were just friends because she is one of my best friends and she will be on the show a few times but on my behalf.
4. How many pets there are in the house? Who own them? And what is their names?
There's 5 dogs! Nick has a Pitbull named Layla and I gave him my dog Romeo cause Romes like him better then me! BJ has a dog named Babygirl, Leslie has a cat and I have a dog name Tiki. Aaron also has a baby Pitbull name Jada.

At age 20, Backstreet Boy Nick Carter was an object of lust for teenage girls and one of People magazine's "50 Most Beautiful People." But back home, his parents' marriage was crumbling and he says he and his four siblings turned to each other for support. "We came from a household that was broke and a lot of fighting and a lot of drama in the house," Nick says. "The only people we could connect with were each other. Every time I was away, coming home to them was the thing I would look forward to." Now at age 26, Nick has turned his colorful home life into a new reality TV show called "House of Carters." The series, debuting this October on the E! channel and co-produced by the makers of "The Osbournes,'' stars the towheaded singer and his siblings: Bobbie Jean or "BJ," who is 24 and wants to be a chef, Leslie, 19, a wannabe singer, and 18-year-old twins Angel and teen singing sensation Aaron. "We're the epitome of a big family, but maybe a little crazier," Nick says. Some of that craziness erupted last week when Nick and little brother Aaron reportedly got into a fistfight the night before their press conference to announce the new series, which, conveniently includes lots of bickering as well. Cleaning up messy rooms, picking up dog poop and squabbling over the brothers' five cars are just some of the salacious tidbits promised in the show's first eight episodes. "There's a couple of times when I come home and it's a freakin' madhouse and I lose my mind," admits Nick, who still tours with the Backstreet Boys and briefly dated heiress Paris Hilton. But mainly, the boy-bander says he hopes the show will set an example for other kids from dysfunctional families looking for positive role models. "We're trying to break the cycle," Nick says. "There are lots of families who have come from broken homes who have had instability in their lives and hopefully when they do watch they're going to see something and say, 'Man, I learned from that,' and we're going to learn as well as they're going to learn. There is a solution to the problem."

Subject: Carters argue over dog poop
Source: [mysa.com]

I barely had arrived in this land of celebs and my ears were still sensitive from the flight from San Antonio when I got a rude awakening: famous siblings bickering at each other about dog poop. No kidding. The E! network has decided to capture the reunion of Nick Carter of "Backstreet Boys" fame, his recording star brother, Aaron, and their three sisters under one roof and turn the cameras on them. Seems they had a dysfunctional childhood and Nick, the oldest, wanted to make up for that by bringing the whole clan closer together...with television cameras blazing. How sweet, how intimate...OK, OK. The reality show will be called "The House of Carters" and will debut on E! in October. If one argument among the five is any indication of the fun ahead, well, uh, I can't wait. When one critic wondered if there were any house rules, the siblings started hissing at each other. "You want us to clean up after you and to clean up after your dog," sis Leslie snarled at Nick. She then accused him of having a "bossy dad" mentality and reiterated: "I don't want to clean up your dog poop!" "Well, you have a cat," countered Aaron. "I know," she said, "and it goes in one place." This, believe it or not, went on for a while. Groan, it certainly made me long for the show that started all this, "The Osbournes," and the mumbling and the shuffling, even the pill-popping. At least that was on the quiet side.

Can there be a reality show with a more dysfunctional family than — say — the Osbournes? Oh yes there can! That show is "House of Carters" featuring Backstreet Boy Nick Carter's wild and wacky family, which premieres on E! in October. In the weekly series, Nick invites his younger brother Aaron and their three sisters to move in to one house and try to become a family again. Big brother Nick sees it as his job to help his younger siblings form strong bonds and help each other pursue their professional and personal dreams. The Carters' legal battles have been tabloid fodder for years. Their parent's contentious divorce, Nick's arrest for driving under the influence, Bobbie Jean's arrest for assault and Aaron's petition for legal emancipation from his manager/mother (which he later withdrew) are just some of the stories that have made headlines.
Then there's the ladies in the boys' lives. Nick Carter dated Paris Hilton in 2003. Aaron dated both Lindsay Lohan and Hilary Duff, sparking rumors of a feud between the two teen starlets. Aaron is best known as a heartthrob for the 12-and-under set who sold more than 1.5 million copies of his 2000 album "Aaron's Party." His challenge now is reviving his music career as a young adult. Leslie is a singer who has been living in Toronto with her boyfriend, the drummer for her band. She's been away from the family for some time, so moving in with her brothers and sisters should be interesting. Angel is Aaron's twin sister and best friend. She wants to become a model and plans to eventually move to the west coast. Bobbie Jean isn't so sure about her future, although she has shown interest in studying for a culinary career. Will the siblings pull together and stay out of trouble long enough to achieve their dreams? You'll have to tune in to the show to find out.

Did you have a troubled childhood? Is your family a dysfunctional mess? Where better to sort it all out than in front of millions of people on TV! That seems to be the trend this press tour. Monday, Danny Bonaduce and Shannen Doherty were at the press tour turning their gossip column troubles into cable TV shows. On Tuesday, Backstreet Boy Nick Carter and his younger brother Aaron were on hand to promote House Of Carters, a new Osbornes-like series premiering this fall on E! Entertainment.
The eight-part reality series spies on the pair plus their three female siblings — Leslie (who was trying to launch a singing career in Toronto), Angel and Bobbie Jean — as they escape the clutches of their estranged parents and all live together in Nick's California home. Think of it as Party Of Five Damaged Kids. Nick, 26, insists he was no father figure, more of a big brother (with unlimited credit). He calls his parents "selfish" and suggests they were too focused on pushing his brother and him into showbusiness. Nick was 12 when he began singing with the Backstreet Boys. Aaron's career began at age seven. Their parents' divorce tore the family apart, with one sister living with mom and the others with dad. So why is getting back together under one roof a good idea for a TV show? "We came from a lot of fighting and stuff like that, so the only way we knew to communicate was to fight and to be, you know, very loud," says Nick. Apparently that will be hugely entertaining.

When E! presented its panel earlier in the day, everyone was spent because Dan Rather and Mark Cuban had just held court and all things considered on this second day, that was pretty interesting. So presenting "House of Carters," about 26-year-old Backstreet Boy Nick Carter, his pop star brother Aaron and their three sisters living together ala "The Osbournes" was a considerable letdown. Normally I'd skip something like that but I have friends at E! and I like the channel's leader, Ted Harbert, so I showed up. In the end, I was glad I did because the Carter family is a lot more screwed up than I knew about. I don't follow boy-band machinations and very rarely partake in that kind of People magazine celebrity thing but hey, the Carter parents did a real number on the kids. Why the five siblings want to be on a reality show, I have no idea (well, yes I do, but isn't it so obvious as to go unspoken?). Anyway, they talked over each other a whole bunch and Nick Carter seemed particularly angry and it was all very dramatically dysfunctional so who knows, if you're bored it might fill the time.

Shannen Doherty cried. So did Dan Rather. Nick Carter raged, while brother Aaron showed the goose egg brother Nick gave him after an argument the night before. Oh, and televangelists Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker's boy Jay is all grown up, gone punk and preaching on podcasts. Put it all together, and it spells just another day of fun for TV critics covering the annual summer press tour when the networks put on a real circus of the stars — or at least some people who have been on the covers of supermarket rags. Nick Carter wants everyone to know that the Backstreet Boys are still around and ready to tour. And to help make sure everyone knows he's still around and kicking — and to save some money on therapy from his rotten childhood — he and his siblings, including singer Aaron and three sisters, have all moved in together. Not just for family cuddling, but to film a reality series for E! that is set to air in October. "House of Carters" follows the bickering kin, who say they have been through a tough childhood and now just want to be a normal family. I'm thinking maybe filming that heart-warming reunion might not be the best way of making that come about. Although it will be a good way of reminding people that Nick Carter, 26, is more than just an answer for Bonaduce's tabloid game show quiz.

Subject: Carter Won't Be Charged

Authorities will not file charges against Backstreet Boy Nick Carter and his friend, whom a Wisconsin tourist claimed sexually assaulted her during a weekend at the historic Casa Antigua in March. The Monroe County State Attorney's Office has closed its investigation into the 20-year-old's allegations at her request. "We reviewed the evidence with the victim and her mother and decided not to go forward with the case because this would have put her up for national vilification," Chief Assistant State Attorney Catherine Vogel said. "Since there is no physical evidence, it would have been her word against his and we took into consideration her wishes to ultimately drop the issue." Vogel said some of the woman's account was believable, but prosecutors lacked strong physical evidence and witness corroboration. "He's a pop star and somebody will find fault with us if we prosecute him or if we don't," she said. The Citizen typically does not name suspects who have not been charged with a crime, but Carter, 26, is a high-profile national celebrity and his friend, Robert Kalouch, 31, is a well-known figure in the entertainment industry. According to published reports, he is or was a manager for boy band NSync and head of security for Nick's younger brother, Aaron.

After presenting an award, the infamous Backstreet Boys were in the house to sign a poker chip set and get hands on with the system. The entire band spent several minutes talking about their games together, their poker experiences and who is the top player among the group. This proved to be quite a heated debate but after some laughs the general consensus was Nick Carter taking the title. After that it was time to put Nick to the test online. Right there at the AMA’s the game was on. Jumping on to a low limit table Nick proved to be a real player. Not loosing one hand while playing Carter called an All-In bet with nothing and bluffed a massive pot. The player folding couldn’t believe his eyes and had to have felt sick seeing Carters boldly played 10-3 off suit. Once again Nick was sent home with a CelebPoker.com shirt and the experience of battling poker players everywhere online. CelebPoker is the only place where a celebrity poker game can be found, sometimes at the most exciting events and shows world wide.

Backstreet Boys hunk Nick Carter is urging the world to turn its back on the sex-laden lyrics of R&B and embrace rock. The blond singer, who is a huge fan of classic rockers Journey and Def Leppard, claims too much chart music is obsessed with sex. Carter explains, "We need melodic music that has feeling. Nowadays it's about what girl you're screwing. I think the world is missing rock." The boy band plan to focus on rock-tinged pop after their previous sound concentrated on bubblegum pop. He says, "We've gone from R&B, then we did full pop and we've done some rock tracks. We didn't say we're going to be a rock band (but) obviously we wanted to change the product a little bit. "It's not like we said we're going to sound like an older group, the album just took its shape."

Subject: Tommy Lee Parties With Good Charlotte, Slash And, Er, Nick Carter on 'Tommyland'
Source: [mtv.com]
Thanks: Kayla
The nonstop party that is the life of Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee for about the past 20 years gets cranked up several notches on his upcoming solo album, Tommyland: The Ride, which is due in August. And although he knows it's a cliché, he swears the album is the best thing he's ever done. "It's true, this is the best thing I've ever done!" Tommy yelled from a stop on the Mötley Crüe reunion tour. "I mean, people will be like, 'Is that f---ing Tommy?' It's like an event record." That much is true, as Tommy has invited a galaxy of rockers to join him in his playland, among them: Joel Madden from Good Charlotte, Sum 41's Deryck Whibley, Slash, Dave Navarro, Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger and his good buddy, Backstreet Boy Nick Carter. [snip] But, odd as it may sound, Tommy sounds most excited about his collaboration with Backstreet Boy Nick Carter. "Nick sings his ass off!" Tommy said of the song "Say Goodbye." "We've been friends for a while, and he's so not the milk-and-cookies Backstreet guy people think. Of all the rockers who came by to collaborate, that mother----er's the craziest. He's a maniac. He's scared me a few times."

Subject: Nick charged with drunken driving
Source: [news.yahoo.com]
Thanks: Kayla
Ain't nothing but a headache and a pair of drunken driving charges for Nick Carter. The Backstreet Boy was formerly charged Tuesday with one count of driving under the influence and one count of driving with a blood alcohol level over 0.08. He was arrested in Huntington Beach, California, on Saturday after he was stopped for erratic driving and then failed a field sobriety test. Carter, 25, is scheduled to appear at an Apr. 13 arraignment, but as the charges are misdemeanor offense, his attorney could appear in his place — if he wants it that way. The popster faces fines of up to $1,500, probation and restrictions on his license. According to Carter's rep, the singer wasn't to blame for the traffic snafu. "Nick Carter deeply regrets the current situation. He is on doctor-prescribed medication and was unaware of its interaction possibilities," Carter publicist Juliette Harris said in a statement Monday. Harris did not elaborate on which pills the Backstreeter was supposedly popping at the time of his arrest.
Carter, who released a solo album in 2002, is slated to regroup with his fellow "boy" banders (who range in age from 27 to 33) later this month for a 13-city club tour of the United States.
This summer, the group plans to release their first studio album since 2000's Black & Blue. On Mar. 18, the Backstreet Boys are slated to travel to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to perform in support of tsunami relief, along with Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean, the Black Eyed Peas and Boyz II Men. Carter's legal problems should not prevent him from making the trip
Subject: Nick arrested for DUI

Nick Carter was arrested in Southern California on Saturday for allegedly driving while under the influence. The Backstreet Boys singer was stopped by police at about 7:30 p.m. in downtown Huntington Beach for violating a traffic law, Lieutenant Dave Bunetta said on Monday (March 7). The officers then conducted field sobriety tests and arrested the 25-year-old. Carter was taken to the local police department, booked for investigation of DUI and had his vehicle impounded. He was released about four hours later with an agreement to appear in court within 45 days. Because the investigation is still active, Bunetta could not release other details about the arrest or Carter's sobriety tests. "He was cooperative, and there was nothing unusual about his demeanor," Bunetta said. A district attorney will determine within the next few weeks if there is enough evidence to file charges. "Nick Carter deeply regrets the current situation," the singer's publicist said in a statement released Monday. "He is on doctor-prescribed medication and was unaware of its interaction possibilities." The Backstreet Boys recently finished recording their first album in five years and will hit the road later this month to start promoting the music.
