Subject: Carter, Washington & David put Blood on a Happy Face
Source: The Hollywood Reporter
Thanks: Emily
Backstreet Boy Nick Carter, Isaiah Washington and Keith David are set to star in Blood on a Happy Face for writer-director Rick Thompson. Filming is scheduled to begin August 1 in Manhattan and later move to Brooklyn. The film centers on an undercover agent (Washington) who gets caught up in the underbelly of Brooklyn. His world is turned upside down when the woman he loves double-crosses him as part of an elaborate scheme to steal a large sum of money. It's then up to him to save his own life. Carter plays the role of Fazio, the catalyst for the crooked scheme, while David plays a detective with a gambling problem who winds up working for a Russian mobster.

Subject: Backstreet Boy wows Midwest Girls

PEORIA - It's a good thing the grandstand at the Heart of Illinois Fair doesn't have a roof. If it did, fair officials would be calling in repairmen today - the girls at Saturday night's Nick Carter concert would have blown it right off. As it was, I think they broke the decibel meter. And no, they weren't all teeny-boppers - the age of the concertgoers ran the gamut.

Thirty-two-year-old Becky Foster drove all the way from Chicago to see her favorite blond-haired hunk from Florida. She knew every word to every song, and said she would have driven even farther to see him.

Cassy Philips, 9, of Pekin came because she says she "loves" Nick Carter.

Both Foster and Philips became Carter fans because they were Backstreet Boys fans.

A threesome from Canton, Torey Sherbeyn, 17, Nick Hinkle, 17, and Jeni Whiteman, 18, won't soon forget this concert. Sherbeyn and Hinkle saw Carter at Northwoods Mall on Saturday buying clothes at the Hot Topic. "I said, 'Oh, my God, that's really Nick Carter,'" Sherbeyn said. "I made my boyfriend (Hinkle) go up with me to talk to him. I asked for his autograph. Then he asked us if we were coming tonight, and we told him no because we didn't have tickets, and he asked if we wanted to come. We said sure, and he put us on his guest list. "We also got a pass for my friend Jeni (Whiteman). How cool is that? Now we can't wait for it to start." Whiteman, however, was a bit skeptical before the start of the concert. "I don't really know what to expect," she said. "I really like country, so I'll have to let you know later."

By the time the 23-year-old native New Yorker took the stage some 20 minutes late, the ladies were getting restless. Several girls down on the track in front of the stage were yelling, "We want Nick! We want Nick!"

When the wait finally was over, the grandstand filled with a deafening roar, and it pretty much stayed that way for the nearly 90-minute concert. The only time the crowd of 700 settled was when Carter sang the ballad "Do I Have to Cry for You" from his debut album, "Now or Never."

But that was short-lived because he doesn't sing many ballads, so the screaming went on and on and on. There's sure to be a lot of sore throats today. The girls screamed if he was singing his own songs, like his opener, "Girls in the USA," or cover songs from other artists like Guns N' Roses.

Carter is likely to make it on his own. He's a good entertainer, and he keeps the girls screaming with lots of gyrating and a little crotch grabbing, especially when he's belting out a rap ditty. And yes, he knows just when to take off his jacket. He also kept them pumped and bouncing by throwing water out into the audience and by kneeling to touch a few hands.

One thing's for sure: No one left unhappy. Remember Jeni Whiteman, who said she'd decide how she liked Carter when the concert was over? She said she still loves country, but Nick Carter has a new fan. - Brenda Story

Backstreet Boy Nick is staying with his make-up artist in Mississauga, ON, Canada - just west of Toronto - for a few weeks. I can't disclose the exact address due to privacy concerns. He's in town doing some song writing with Canadian music artist Snow. Nick's been spotted at the neighbourhood Kentucky Fried Chicken and swimming with friends as well he showed up on stage with Canadian hip hop artist Snow at the Canada Day celebration in Downsview Park. Some lucky fans were fortunate enough to meet him. [Click here] to see a pic.

Subject: Tommy Lee defends his work with Nick Carter

Carter's collaborator, Tommy Lee, has been angrily defending himself against outraged metal fans who have been criticizing the drummer for working with the Backstreet Boy. "Am I never supposed to write a song for anyone else?" Lee wrote in his Web journal at www.joysmayhem.com. "I'm not joining the Backstreet Boys, I was asked by Nick ... to help him get a more aggressive sound for his new CD!! ... He's a huge rock fan ... You all would be very surprised ... Do I judge your work!?!!? ... It wouldn't get me off posting to everyone how you burn the burgers you flip at Jack in the Box!!"
