Thanks: Little
Backstreet Boy Nick Carter's single "Help Me" hit the airwaves Tuesday (August 20) with his first solo album, Now Or Never, due in stores on October 29. Matthew Gerrard (Mandy Moore) and Michele Vice-Maslin co-wrote "Help Me," and Gerrard produced it. Carter, who at the age of 22 is the youngest member of the boy band, said he's showing his rock 'n' roll influences on the album, and that includes turning up the guitars. "Yeah, I wanted to put more guitars in it, definitely. A little harder, a little newer. Just different, just very different," he said. "I've been playing guitar lately and you know, I'm probably going to start playing when I perform onstage. And y'know, the drums I've been playing since I was, 12 years old." Now Or Never features tracks written by Carter, the Matrix, Mark Taylor (Enrique Iglesias), Steve Mac (Westlife), Max Martin, and Rami. - Darryl Morden, Los Angeles

Subject: NICK CARTER'S 'HELP ME' TO BE FIRST SINGLE
Source: www.launch.com
Thanks: Tanisha
Backstreet Boy Nick Carter is readying his debut album as a solo artist, Now Or Never, for worldwide release on October 29. The first single from the album, "Help Me," will officially debut at radio outlets and online on Tuesday (August 20). Matthew Gerrard and Michele Vice-Maslin co-wrote "Help Me", and Gerrard produced it. Vice-Maslin is best known for writing the chart-topping single "Get Over Yourself" for the short-lived female pop group, Eden's Crush. Now Or Never features tracks written by Carter, The Matrix, Mark Taylor, Steve Mac,, and longtime Backstreet Boys collaborators, Max Martin and Rami. Carter told LAUNCH that fans can expect the songs on the album to be a blend of both rock and pop. "I've always been a big rock person, I've always loved rock music," he admitted. "I grew up to rock music since I was a little kid with my parents, so what I wanted to do was definitely put that together with pop music and make maybe a new type of rock/pop thing." The 22-year-old singer also noted that he didn't want to stray too far away from the pop-flavored songs that Backstreet Boys fans are used to. "Well, I've been doing pop music with the Backstreet Boys for awhile--pop songs with a little bit of a folk-feel with them, and other things that are a little bit of R&B flavored," Carter explained. -- Jason Gelman, New York and Darryl Morden, Los Angeles

  • He performed My Confession and then Help Me and he was really good. A little nervous, but really good.
  • He said some stuff that we already know, umm dropping the single Help Me off at Z100 today, oh and he kept saying the album's coming out Oct. 22nd like we had originally thought, not the 15th.
  • The new haircut is different, but nice.
  • When he was performing he kinda looked like a preppy college kid..LOL...but he kept doing movements that made him look like he was in a punk band or something.
  • After he finished My Confession he was all like, "The jitters are gone now!"
  • They didn't allow ANY pics or recording of any kind during Nick's performance of the two songs.
  • He did a press conference and answered a lot of questions and took a bunch of pics. We even got personalized autos.
  • He basically talked about how the group was not breaking up, but that he was focusing on the solo stuff right now.
  • he said Aaron's giving him advice about being a solo artist.
  • That he got his inspiration for the album from being in the music business for 10 years and that he was happy he'd be able to have more personal music (I guess?) you know, songs that show his emotions and feeling all all that.
  • He said that Help Me is about where he's at right now when he's trying to figure things out.
  • His childhood heroes were his family and everyone laughed because he said he couldn't go wrong with that answer.
  • He also that you can learn a lot from almost anyone.

    Source: www.mtv.com

While Justin Timberlake's solo debut looks to be a star-studded affair, another singer stepping out from a celebrated pop group is taking the opposite approach. Of the 37 tracks Nick Carter has recorded for his first album away from the Backstreet Boys, only one features guest vocals. And that track, with dancehall reggae artist Mr. Vegas, may not make the final cut. "I don't think you need to [collaborate]," Carter explained at Sunday's Teen Choice Awards. "The Backstreet Boys didn't really ever do any collaborations on the albums. For me, personally, I would love to. But I think just for the first one it would be cool to just show who I am and let everybody see what I'm about." On Now or Never, due October 22, Carter will reveal rock influences that are not so obvious on his group's material (see "Backstreet's Nick Carter Ready To Go Solo Now"). "People are going to be shocked," he said. "That's what I want. That's the way I am. I'm unexpectable." Carter has worked with several producers on the project, including Backstreet Boys and 'NSYNC associate Max Martin and several up-and-comers. "It's cool to spread it open a bit and go underground," Carter said. "That's where you find some really cool producers and writers." Carter is currently narrowing down the final track list for the album and assembling a band that he'll likely take on the road. "It's hard when you sit back and listen to your music in your car and you just want people to hear it so bad," Carter said. "It's gonna get there. I'm so excited."

Subject: NICK CARTER'S ALBUM DUE OUT IN OCTOBER
    Source: www.yahoonews.com
    Thanks: Gina
Backstreet Boy Nick Carter's debut album as a solo artist, titled Now Or Never, is set for release on October 22, according to Jive Records. Carter recently launched his own website in support of the upcoming album at n-carter.com. The singer told LAUNCH that making the transition from recording with the Backstreet Boys ( news - web sites) to recording as a solo artist has been quite interesting: "It's different because a lot of decisions have got to come from my mind: videos, concepts, and all these things. I think that's also cool, too, because fans get to see a side of me that I've been holding in for a long time." Carter added that the group dynamic is a lot different than being out there on your own. "There was a lot of stuff that in the Backstreet Boys--when I was with them--that I wasn't able to get out. Like when we would decide videos or something like that, I was, like, 'Maybe this would be cool.' And you know, being the fact that it's a group and you've got five different opinions, it doesn't always work out." Carter also assured LAUNCH that Backstreet Boys fans should not worry about Carter's solo album being the beginning of the end of the group. The Backstreet Boys, including Carter, will be back with a new album shortly, although no exact release date for the set has been announced as yet. "I have been recording for a while now, and that's why it's (my album) further along and the Boys album's not further along. I'm recording with them, too, and we're doing both." - Jason Gelman, New York

The album will be the first full-scale solo breakout from any member of the two major boy bands -- the BSBs and 'N Sync -- but it likely will be followed closely by a set from 'N Sync's Justin Timberlake, who has been recording with the Neptunes, Alicia Keys and Timbaland. Carter -- who with the rest of his bandmates is preparing to record a follow-up to the 2000 set Black and Blue -- will tour behind his solo release, though no dates have been confirmed. - AUGUSTIN SEDGEWICK

    Source: www.orlandosentinal.com
    Thanks: Gina
NEW YORK -- Nick Carter wants to prove he's more than just a pretty boy pop singer. The youngest member of the Backstreet Boys has been recording his first solo album, scheduled for release in October, on which he plays the drums. "I'm trying to put my rock influence in, big time," Carter told Teen People for its September issue. "A lot of rock nowadays, you know, everybody's digging Linkin Park and all that stuff, but I want to bring more of a pop essence to the rock, but still keep it from being corny. I'm definitely pushing the envelope." But the 22-year-old admits he also likes some adult contemporary music, like Journey and Bryan Adams. When I grew up, my mom and dad always played that music around the house, so it's probably a parental thing," he said. "I don't know if I'm an old soul, but I like history. I like old stuff."

Backstreet Boy Nick Carter has finished his pre-trial prevention program following his arrest for lewd behaviour outside a Florida, America nightclub in January. At the time, the singer did not take his arrest well, according to another witness. "He was being all loud and causing problems. At the end of the night there was a big fight. Cops told Nick and his friends to leave but they wouldn't," a witness reports. The intervention program required the heart-throb to complete community service, pay a fine and stay out of trouble. After successfully completing the program, the charges have been dropped and his criminal record will remain clean.
