Transcript of Nick on Y100 Miami

DJ - He's gonna be in town tomorrow for the Joe Dimaggio Legends game, Nick Carter, what's up?

N - What's up!?

DJ - You got a lotta stuff going on, right?

N - Man....a crapload!

DJ - You've got this Joe Dimaggio Legends game...

N - Yup

DJ - Now, that's tomorrow night, tell me what's going on with that.

N - I did this like two years ago. It's the Joe Dimaggio....it's a baseball game, um, for like, charities, the children's hospice, the Joe Dimaggio Children's Hospital. So I'm coming back cause I had such a great time. Gonna play some baseball. Fun.

DJ - For more imformation about the Joe Dimaggio Legend game, just log on to our website Y100.7 Miami.com. Now let's talk about the big question. Everybody wants to know, are the Backstreet Boys getting back together?

N - Well, we've been back together and, actually, we spent, uh, the whole last year recording this record because we. we were so anal about how we wanted it to sound, and uh, we were just coming up with the sound...in general. Now...we finished our last song two days ago...ah..the song that looks like it could be the contender for the first single. Uh, then we start touring in April.

DJ - I heard you're doing small venues to start out?

N - We were actually gonna be doing, like, a House of Blues tour, just to kind of, you know, get, introduce ourselves again, because it's been, like, three, four years now.

DJ - Any nervousness?

N - Definitely! I mean, I think the nervousness comes from, you know, the music changing. It's, it's different out there. You know what I'm saying? Pop has now morphed into a new type of music, you know, so...and that, that was our main concern, you know, is just put together the best album possible that, you know, put it out there and worry how people are going to accept it, you know? At the same time, we have a fan base, but we kind of wanna develop a new one too, you know?

DJ - Don't you think though, just listening to music, that it's about time for a group like yours?

N - Yeah, it's crazy, cause I was actually thinking about that this morning, you know, listening to this record, um, we recorded. I don't know if everybody out there is ready for pop music again...in a new light. I don't know, you know what I'm saying? But that's what, you know...we're gonna give it a shot, and uh, you know, it's cool, you know what I'm saying? We're the old school guys!

DJ - Isn't it crazy? You're 24 years old and you're old school!

N - Can you believe it? (muffled talking and laughter) 25 actually today!

DJ - 25, yeah that's old school.

N - Can you believe that? Yeah, it's funny. I guess it's kinda cool, to be the wise old men. *much laughter* I respect those monks, you know?

DJ - Yeah right! How are the girls treating you nowadays?

N - How are the girls treating me? Oh god...

DJ - Yeah, are you single? Are you married? Are you...what's the deal?

N - Nah...I'm definitely single. Ah....right now, for me, it's just about concentrating on my music, on my work...

DJ - Come on, Nick, with all this career stuff...what about the ladies?

N - You know, if I run into a hot girl, you know...

DJ - Uh huh...

N - I can't tell you I'm gonna deny her...

DJ - We always make time for the ladies!

N - I love the ladies, there's no doubt about it. I love 'em!

DJ - I gotta ask you one question.

N - Yeah...go ahead *laughs*

DJ - And you know what I'm gonna ask you.

N - I knew it's going down.

DJ - Alright, here we go...

N - I already know...

DJ - What's up with Paris Hilton? Do you keep in contact with her?

N - Not at all.

DJ - Not at all. It's just...done.

N - It's definitely done.

DJ - Do you watch Simple Life at all?

N - Nah. I never did before.

DJ - Really?

N - No, you know what? I'm not gonna diss anybody, or say anything bad, you know what...you know..at the end of the day, I loved her, um, and, there's always going to be a certain amount of love there for people who you've been with for awhile, you know what I'm saying? But, at the same time, you know, uh, you move on, you know what I'm saying? I got a tattoo that says "Old habits die hard".

DJ - Speaking about habits...did you get tired of Paris saying "it's so hot" all the time?

N - *laughs* It's so hot. (affects hilarious Paris accent)

DJ - It's so hot. That would drive me crazy, dude! I'd be like, Shut up!

N - I know, it's funny. No, I'm out, I'm out for new and better things.

DJ - Oh, you'll find better, bro.

N - Hopefully. God willing. *laughs*

DJ - I'll see you tonight, for your birthday at South Beach. We're gonna throw down at a club. And then, tomorrow...you're playing in the big Joe Dimaggio Legends game. Nick Carter, thank you so much for checking in.

N - Alright.

Thanks to Dawn.
